Life is not a rehearsal!!

Jul 31 2011

Your life is not a rehearsal so dont go over the bad bits and hold onto the sadness. Get up, dust your self off and rev up for the future. Each day is an unexplored adventure each with ups and downs. If you keep standing still in the ocean the sands will cave in and drag you down, so keep swimming. I know how hard life can be and how destructive the out come. But at the end of the day we are in control of our destiny. Its okay to mourn our loss and to grieve – feel anger when bereft. Read more…

Life is worth the effort

Jul 06 2011

I am feeling very sad today almost as though I am grieving the loss of some thing- or one. It has been a hard few months with so much going on in my life that I  find it hard to believe at times.

Skye has gone to big school for an hour this morning and I sit waiting for her return I am thinking so much about her future and how much she has changed since she first came to live with us. Gone is the violent little 11 month old who lashed out at the least attempt to cuddle her, with no trust  towards any one. In place is a lovely- lovable 4 year old who has no violent out-bursts and enjoys a cuddle and will say without hesitating how much she loves you. Read more…

A Taliban bomb killed Plymouth based Royal Marine Nigel Mead who was just 19 years of age, as he searched a compound in the loy Mandeh Wadi area of the Nad-e Ali north district in Helmand province Afghanistan. His untimely death makes him the 365th British servicemen and woman killed since 2001.

Plymouth mum jailed for 28 days for allowing her daughter to play truant

May 09 2011

I read this news feature mid April in the Plymouth Evening Herald.

Lisa Copeland, (pictured left), was sentenced to 28 days behind bars for allowing her daughter to stay away from school.

What sort of parent doesn’t care if their child is educated?

Her 28 days is almost up and I wonder how this mum now feels about her behaviour?

This is no excuse for being lazy and complacent where children are concerned. It’s about time the Council shook up these lazy parents and made examples of them all.

Plymouth man accused of possessing 6,500 child porn images

May 06 2011

I read this story recently in the Plymouth Evening Herald.

Oh dear, there’s another nail in the coffin in trying to stop this filth from being downloaded.

Some say child porn images on the internet is not actually child abuse. This staggers me.

The ignorance of this kind of naive comment.

How do these people think these images were made? Read more…

‘Woman drunk in charge of her child’ – Shocking News Story

Apr 08 2011

I read this news report in our local paper about a mum (blog picture is of this guilty woman) was drunk in charge of her child at a play den and had open bottle of vodka.

Abusing children is not just hitting or striking – it comes in many forms including neglecting your child through your alcohol drinking habits.  How can someone be charged with dangerous driving having had a drink and not child neglect or even endangerment?

My views on mixed-gender hospital wards

Apr 07 2011

I saw this coverage in our local paper and felt compelled to write a blog about mixed-gender hospital wards:

In my view, mixed-gender wards should never have been introduced. I have been in and out of hospital a lot over several years and am always anxious about sharing a ward with men and I know many women feel the same. I was in hospital about three years ago in a single room and the rest of the wards were mixed-sex.

Ex-Plymouth primary head teacher is GUILTY of sex attacks

Apr 07 2011

I followed this case closely as anyone who knows me will know a guilty verdict is another nail in the coffin from keeping filth like this man away from our children.

A man in a position of trust (blog picture is of this guilty man) and trust for the most vulnerable in society – our youngsters.

I hope this serves to all those in a position of trust and respect that if you abuse the children, in your care one day they will become the adults who accuse.

My heart is saddened for what his victims will be going through at this time. A mixture of emotions. Incredible relief they were believed but tinged with sadness that their suffering and pain will continue – probably through the rest of their lives.
