The disappearance of Madeleine McCann – almost 4 years later

1st May 2011

Madeleine disappeared on the evening of Thursday, 3/5/07, whilst on holiday with her parents and twin siblings in the Algarve region of Portugal.

I have tried very hard to be objective about the disappearance of a little girl, who fell asleep one night in a room with her twin siblings, whilst on holiday.

Both parents are professional doctors who are trained to see and report abandoned/abused children who would have been left in similar circumstances.

Somehow her parents believed it was okay to leave all three children under the age of 4 years, alone in a foreign land whilst they went for dinner with others. Whilst they ate, someone saw the abandoned children and took the opportunity to take the elder one.

As a parent, I don’t understand how anyone could find this acceptable.

The McCann’s learnt a sorry lesson that evening and have lived with this guilt ever since. Not once have I ever believed they had anything to do with her disappearance nor do I believe they knew the dangers that lurked outside their apartment that fateful night. I do believe they would never have left them had they an incline of the nights events about to unfold. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

If Madeleine is still alive and eventually may be returned to her parents, what will they say about the ease of her kidnapping? How will her siblings react once they realise how vulnerable they all were that night. But for the grace of God go I.

I have read all the arguments, we put our kids at risk every day whilst on the way to school, on public transport etc etc. But we are speaking about babies and they should never be left unattended in any circumstance.

Kate and Gerry McCann are not paying the price of there mistakes. Madeleine and her siblings are/have and will do for the rest of their lives.

How can you defend the un-defendable?

this little girl is dead in my opinion, many things point to this sad fact, nothing at all points to her being alive, so she won’t have to worry about anything as she won’t be going home to her parents, she is in heaven

Many believe this as truth but recently in the papers their are children returned home after several years of abduction.
I hope if this little one is dead it was swift and if she is alive she is with some one who wanted a child so desperately they paid for her to be abducted. I dont like to think of the 3rd alternative- either way may she be at peace where ever she may lay her head this night!
